Unbelievable, and not in a good way.
Hello my friends.
I have discovered that there are those among us who dislike the current state of affairs.
Those who complain and make hysterical proclomations filled with doom.
Those who claim that a calamity is about to befall our most treasured of institutions.
I am talking about those who criticize socialized medicine.
Yes my friends, there are still such barbarians among us.
What are the benefits of privatized medicine?
I would really like to know, because I am not aware of any.
Is it better health care for a society's citizens? Perhaps, but as the system in the USA has
proven, it is only better health care for some and worse care for many others.
The New York Times recently published an article about how middle class folk can't afford health care anymore in America.
Americans I have spoken to, (and I speak to Americans often), have complained of the same problem.
Is it a more financially sound system? Not according to the New England Journal of Medicine.
I am referring to Volume 349:768-775 Aug 21/2003, an article titled "Costs of Health Care Administration in the United States and Canada".
Some of the conclusions were "The gap between U.S. and Canadian spending on health care administration has grown to $752 per capita. A large sum might be saved in the United States if administrative costs could be trimmed by implementing a Canadian-style health care system."
Amazing isn't it?
Is it that a socialized system stifles innovation?
Ahhh, that arguement will lead you down the same path as our good friend Paul Tsongas, and we all know who he ended up.
So, please my rabid, wrong thinking friends, please let me know what the advantages of privitized medicine is.
